Frequently Asked Questions

I've never been in a pageant before, can I still compete?

Absolutely! There is no experience required or necessary.

There is no preliminary competition in my area, can I still compete?

In areas where there is no preliminary competition, those titles are awarded by our Executive State Committee based on eligibility and applications received. This process is called "competing at-large".

What kind of questions will the judges ask me?

The judges' job is to get to know you and your individual personality.  They will be asking you questions that come form your application and platform page.  The Judges are trying to learn more about you and your platform.

Are there height and weight requirements?

The Idaho International Pageants have no height or weight stipulations. We know that exceptional young ladies come in all shapes and sizes. The Idaho International Pageants do showcase the importance of a healthy lifestyle in the fitness wear portion of the competition.

What age group typically competes in the Pageant?

To compete, a Mrs. contestant must be between the ages 21 and 56, and married for six months as of July 1st of the competition year.  Every year we host women as young as 21, as old as 56, and everywhere in between.  Likewise, winners range in age.  Age is all relative: it is the woman that wins the title not her age.

A MISS contestant must be between the ages 19 and 29 as of July 1st of the competition year. Never Married nor given birth.

A Teen contestant must be between the ages 13 and 18 as of July 1st of the competition year. Never Married nor given birth.

 What is a platform?

A platform is a cause or issue that is near or dear to your heart. Each contestant in the Idaho  International Pageants will select a platform which she will spend the year promoting if selected as an Idaho International Queen. There is no right or wrong platform, as long as it's an issue that you are passionate about.

What does the entry fee include?

Local Title holder Sash and crown pin

Idaho International Tote bag

Idaho International T-shirt

Current Issue of Pageantry Magazine

Current Issue of Supermodels Unlimited Magazine

Can I obtain sponsors to help defray the cost of competing?

Absolutely! Sponsors are allowed and encouraged, but not required.

How difficult is it to collect sponsorship?

Collecting sponsorship is easy to do, however it does take some time commitment on your part.  It is highly recommended that you make a list of potential sponsors such as friends and family members and their employers, etc. and spend a few hours on the weekend or when your schedule allows you to collect your sponsorships.  Be sure to go in person to talk to your potential sponsor.  Let the sponsor know what your platform is and why you are passionate about it. Going out and talking to sponsors is a great way to help you prepare for interview.  The sponsor may have some of the same questions a Judge would ask.

If I become a local title-holder, will I receive a crown and sash?

All local title-holders receive an official Idaho International embroidered sash reflecting their particular title. Title-holders also have the option of purchasing the official Idaho International local title-holder crown. Purchase of the crown is completely optional and may be purchased directly from the manufacturer.

What if I don't have a talent?

No talent is required. The Idaho International Pageants do not have a talent portion of the competition.

What is the deadline for entry?

The final deadline for entry for the 2009 Idaho International Pageants are January 17th 2009.

What time commitment is involved in being a local title-holder?

You may devote as much (or as little) time as you desire, are able, in regards to promoting your title and making appearances. We request that each local title-holder make at least one appearance in their community a month, but this will vary from contestant to contestant based on each contestant's individual schedule.

If I win, will it interfere with school?

We make school the number one priority! Most of your appearances will take place during the weekend and will be scheduled in advance.  In addition the National Pageants are held in July, so not to interfere with school

Can I have a friend enter the pageant with me?

Yes, absolutely.  In fact, we encourage it also, if you recommend the pageant to a friend who registers in time to hold their spot and compete in the pageant, you will receive a credit of $50.00 So, this can be a great way of collecting sponsorship.
